FTMO: the prop firm I use

I passed my FTMO Challenge, and it's the firm I point traders to when they ask where to take a funded challenge. You trade an evaluation account under fixed rules. Pass, and you move to an FTMO Account, which runs on simulated capital, and you can earn a reward from the profits you make there.

Sort these out before you pay

A challenge tests your risk control more than your entries. These four decide most attempts.

A written risk plan

Your size per trade, your daily stop and what you do after two losses. The challenge rules punish the one bad day, so decide this before the first trade.

A setup you have traded before

Pass with the setup you already know. A new strategy on a paid evaluation adds two tests at once.

The rules, read in full

Daily loss, maximum loss, minimum trading days and news rules. Read FTMO's current terms on their site, since they change.

Money you can afford to spend

Treat the fee as a cost. Many traders need more than one attempt, and that is normal.
